When you grow up in a small-town, you have a better understanding of the term "six degrees of separation". Everyone knows everyone in some way and Alex and Michael sure know a whole lot of people in the small town of Hereford. So when they asked me to photograph their wedding in the heart of my hometown, I was thrilled to be a part of the event. This was not going to be a typical wedding, they made sure to let me know. Set in a huge field with an impressive and sizable guest list, I knew that this would be a wedding I could never forget. And in the middle of a hurricane, I was right to think that.
Alex never let the rain slow her down, she embraced it as a part of her day. Something that I encourage my brides to do, welcome the rain and don't let it dampen your parade. Alex went out dancing right in the downpour, she showed us all her rain dance and it was a night filled with dancing and laughter.
The style of Alex's wedding was pin-up and vintage. Old coca-cola bottles graced the tables, bands played swing and the bridesmaids dresses were stylish and quite the fashion statement. Their big day was so them. You can tell that this wedding was a testament to their personalities and their loves, most of all their love for each other.
Alex and Michael are high school sweethearts and have been through so many chapters of their lives together. This wedding took place in September of 2017 and I'm happy to share that now they are expecting a baby. There are so many exciting things happening for this couple and this is why I love what I do so much, I get to capture so many important milestones.
The dancing went throughout most of the night, well after we left. There was so much energy and watching everyone swing and move to the music really made me nostalgic for a time I hadn't even been born in. Themed weddings are always something so special, it has the power to transport you to a different place yet weddings are the definition of home. It's a powerful feeling.
